summerjob for yours truly
Saturday, April 18, 2009
i was looking for a summer job.
SSS declined my offer to help them in some clerical/office stuff in exchange for a meager sum of money because they thought that doing so would be tantamount to insulting my exemplary skills.
...
yes. i was joking. apparently so.
well, let's restate that.
SSS declined to hire me in a summer job due to my lack of college registration form.
yes. they can't hire newly-highschool-grads.
how sweet.
but all wasn't lost.
i think i might have mentioned to my aunt something regarding my interest in having a summerjob. and well, i think she was able to remember that clearly.
very clearly, in fact, for the reason that today, i got my first ever summerjob as a tour guide.
yeah. you heard me right. [in this case, you read me right.]
left home at 5:30 in the morning. arrived home at 6 in the afternoon.
the excursionists were a bunch of hospital staff/ medical people. doctors, assistants, med students, interns... [not to mention their families] you name it.
a total of three buses.
there were five tour guides, including me.
i was partnered with a good family friend, ate ja. she's charming. good social skills as well.
itineraries were tagaytay and lemery, batangas.
'twas cool, actually.
the ride was pretty tiring but since the shuttle bus was airconditioned, i didn't dare complain.
what i really wanted to complain about right now is this feeling of disappointment for the excursionists.
i mean, we went to this so-called Fantasy World, a supposed magical Disneyland look-alike originally created for members of a certain corporation.
take note: SUPPOSED.
it was downright disappointing.
boring, at the very least.
yes, the castle designed after the royal gift of King Ludwig II of Bavaria to his mother was good.
but, that was all.
the castle was good.
but whatever happened to the entertainment aspect of the theme park?
was that really a theme park?
the only purpose that anyone could see in visiting that place is to take lots of photos.
i mean, LOTS.
don't get me wrong. the place wasn't that spectacular. 'twas good, as i've said, but not THAT good as to leave a lasting impression.
but the only thing that you can do while trapped inside the massive 195-hectare Fantasy World is to take photos. so you tend to take lots of it.]
btw, i mentioned 195 hectares, right?
it has a 195-hectare land area. it's just that no one would be able to see the big deal out of that.
sad, sad thing. indeed.
i'm just disappointed for those bunch of people. i mean, they ought to have a good time during that trip. well, of course they did. i was there.
kidding.
me, i was drained. the ride itself was really, really exhausting. but since the pay is good and i get to have free rides to various places, i can't really complain.
well, not that i would want to. hehe.
