well. yesterday, it was an unofficial PROPPHI day! it felt really great to hang out with your bestest friend in the whole wide world. i mean, mico and i were talking about friendship (when was that again?). the thing is that friends always go separate ways. you can't command your friend to stay right where you are. no, dude. you're not hitler. you are a friend. and the thing after that is that no matter how 'separate' your ways may be, you will still have that link that connects you. that is, if the friendship is strong. like what i've mentioned to our dearest mystery benjamin almeda during a philosophical ym conversation that included lots of profound quotes, friendship is like fire... a breeze will snuff out a flame. but if the flame is burning brightly... fiercely... that breeze would just cause it to burn even brighter... fiercer. and that is friendship. and friendship cannot be measured by the length of acquaintance. rather, it is measured by the depth of it all. personally, i would prefer a friend with whom i shared all of 4 months to an acquaintance of ten years with whom i shared nothing. time is not synonymous to depth. but then again, time is a factor. not a key element, though. just a factor. and that is, maybe, why people who go through short, tough moments come out closer than people who've been acquainted with each other for years. acquainting and knowing are different. and, maybe, that is why friends who have shared both time and adventure and tears and laughter come out closer than ever. the foundation has been laid so strongly. and the walls have been built so firmly. the walls of Jericho that no man can ever destroy. except for the one inside the walls...
silence is the friend that never betrays. that is actually true. so as to say. silence doesnt mean yes. it doesnt mean no either. it is the gray area between yes and no. it can mean an answer that is better left unsaid, an answer that is capable of destruction, an indecision... it can never mean the one or the other because, sometimes, it means both.
