haven't posted for quite some time. i just didn't have any inspiration to write on that moment... haha...
soooo... christmas party.
the almeda's christmas party has been fun. really.
GO MELO AND OLIVER. haha. just kidding. don't wanna be assassinated yet, you know.
im happy. i received four books!!!
FOUR BOOKS.
cooooool.
joyce gave me neil gaiman's ANANSI BOYS!!
rowane gave me neil gaiman's NEVERWHERE!!
mam frias gave me a book of stephen white
paolo gave me The Craving...
looooooooooove it!!!
thanks guys!

i'm a few pages short of finishing American Gods by Neil Gaiman...
(it's not that obvious thati'm soooo into neil gaiman these days...)

he's just downright magnificent.
he writes sooooooo damned good!
i wish i wrote his books. haha...
he is a writer who doesn't thesaurize his words... i mean, he uses highfalutin words, yes, but he uses those words because those words were appropriate in the context of what he was writing. unlike so-called writers who speak of "chuckling blackly" [how can one chuckle BLACKLY again?] or "his eyes rolled down my shirt" [gawd. was that horror??] or "i feel bored and perforated" [oh my. someone opened the thesaurus for the word 'bored' and got the word 'perforated'. so, uh, you were punctured?]
and his books have plot. there is the beginning, middle, and ending. unlike some other books out there who tried really hard to make the plot appear, and having failed to do so, were forced to just state the plot. rather crude, if you might ask me.
beginning was cliche. ending was rushed. middle, or rather, MUDDLE, was... uh... muddled.
no comparison with neil gaiman's works.
and neil's characters are really developed, intricately and realistically. not like some cardboard stereotypes out there in some books who seemed to lack life. they just seem to move because that was what the author requires them to do. an insult to the intelligence, so as to say.
and just for the fact that stephen king, that master author, stated that neil gaiman's works are intimidating is saying something.
neil gaiman is good. no doubt. you just have to read one of his works to figure that out. try reading GOOD OMENS... or AMERICAN GODS... or STARDUST... or any of his wonderfully crafted works...
you wouldn't be saying that a hype book is good.

i've finished Anne Rice's The Vampire Lestat.
hey, if you're a vamp fan, read Anne Rice. not Meyer.
Anne Rice's characters are so deeply developed and intricately designed that you'll really believe that they exist. you'll feel their emotions, the very logic of their actions, the sensations...
the characters are so realistically made that you'll think you know them like they're your friends.
and you'll certainly love the plot. there IS a plot! not like... uh... *winkwink*
anne rice is still the Queen of the Vampire Genre.

i've committed a bookworm crime, dearie.
i haven't read sidney sheldon's Master of the Game yet.
gawd.
sidney sheldon is a master of suspense writing. his storyline formats are unforgettable. he can craft a masterpiece that spans several generations and yet everything would come out clear... he can craft a wonderful twist, so magnificent that you would be blown out of your mind... he can use the flashback format perfectly, you'll never know what hit you...
he is the epitome of imagination. when you're deeply engrossed in his craft, you'll realize that everything can happen in the world of books... and you wouldn't be able to wait anymore to venture further...

there are lots more... michael crichton is really good. jeffery deaver, too. kathy reichs. and heaps more...

well, i reckon this entry will end here. i'll finish the pending books. then, i'll post a review.
