biology
Tuesday, October 23, 2007
hmm....
this morning, i´ve had an exam in biology...
i didn`t study... nothing. really.
i thought that it`s going to be really difficult.
i thought wrong.
it was SOOOOOOOOO freaking easy....
i mean, when you`ve studied at cmshs for almost 4 years, the exam will be pretty damn easy...
it was sooo short... only around 12 questions....
walang challenge!
ay meron pala... kasi i have to answer in spanish...
if that exam was in english... POOF... piece of cake...
pero it was in spanish...
pero i did great. i know i did. kasi madali nga yung exam... about darwin and lamarck´s theories and other evolutionary mechanisms....
chuchu....
last saturday and sunday, i went to the ´centro´with a friend... another exchange student from austria...
it was fun. i love BlueBell icecream!!!!!!!
a large cone costs 7 argentine pesos... multiply that by 15 to know its equivalent in philippine peso...
expensive if in php.... poor philippine peso... tsk...
anyway, everything`s going really good here...
yesterday, it was Mothers`Day here in argentina....
well, i wasnt able to greet the filipino moms there yesterday so im gonna do it now.
BELATED HAPPY MOTHERS DAY PHILIPPINES!!
tomorrow, i have an exam in physics...
but i think that i wont take it.
why?
because i dont understand a thing...
it wasnt as if physics is sooooo difficult here.
it`s just that the professor teaches horribly!!! (can you recall someone similar to this???)
my physics teacher teaches NOTHING. he just gives some photocopies and that`s it.
hey! if my classmates are having trouble understanding his photocopies, how much more for me???
the photocopies are in spanish.... if he hadn`t realized it yet....
oh c`mon...
mathematics is easy.
topic is hyperbola... but hey, i cant remember the difference between the general formulas of parabola and hyperbola.... is there a difference? nevermind.
i want to share something about the grading system here because the grading system here is SO DIFFERENT FROM THE GRADING SYSTEM BACK THERE IN THE PHILIPPINES.
but it`s difficult to explain without drawing a diagram...
it`s just too damn different from the grading system back there... i was soooo shocked,...
but you know what, i like the grading system of the philippines better.
if anyone wants to know why or how is the grading system here, ask me when i go back to the philippines...
btw, last thursday, i went with my sister to a futbol game (american soccer is called futbol in argentina)
there was so many people... it was noisy but that`s acceptable since it was a futbol game!
my favorite team WON!!!
woohoo!!
now, i have my favorite futbol teams... wow.
im wondering why there`re no futbol and rugby in the philippines... hmm...

i phoned my welcome family yesterday to greet my welcome mom...
then i recalled that during my first two weeks here in argentina, when i was living with my welcome family, i cant understand my welcome mom when she speaks...
why?
because she doesnt know how to speak slowly for me...
but when i phoned her yesterday, wow.... i can actually understand her!
it was shocking... even for me. **grin**
gee... it seems that when i return back to the philippines, i will be crazier than before.
dont get me wrong.
i AM crazy.
but i think that i will be CRAZIER....
anyway, till here!

televise!
Monday, October 15, 2007
hey.
i presented my powerpoint. pero since my ppt is in english, i had to translate it..
it was difficult to translate.
pero im so glad since they told me that i can speak spanish well enough bearing in mind that im only here for a month...
and eto pa yun eh.
natelevise kami sa channel8 dito...
dun kasi sa colegio de PADUA, merong cameraman wearing a jacket with the channel8 insignia...

they have no respect for the teachers...
sigawan dito, patugtog ng music doon...
parang walang teacher...

then saturday afternoon, i went home.

mega shocked ang iba kong classmates nung nalaman nila na i`ve never kissed anyone...
i mean, they told me that a classmate of ours taught them how to kiss....
dito MAS klangan mong maging wild at masama....
i mean, sabi ni sarah (she`s from the united states), mas wild ang mga klase dito sa argentina kaysa sa US...

i mean, oo xmpre may mothers´day at fathers´day...
pero dito mrong students`day, elementary teachers`day, highschool teachers`day, secretaries`day, butchers`day and kahit anong day na maisip mo....
at bawat school dito may isang week na tinatawag na school week.
next week, pellegrinni week. walang klase... party ang buong school... complete with bands and stuff.... wow.

im still wondering why people smoke...

kahit saan daw pwede.
tapos sabi din nila, most of the boys lose their virginity at around the ages of 13-16... girls naman at around the ages of 16-19...
0_o
hindi naman lahat. mostly.
one boy from my class told us that he did the ´thing´when he was 13....
so ako naman hindi makapaniwala...
pero it was actually the truth.
cultureshock.

im starting to adapt here naman...
maiintindihan ka ng mga tao sa tucuman kahit magsalita ka using the verb usage of buenos aires pero sila magsasalita using their own verb conjugation...
therefore, masanay ka na lng din magsalita using the verb conjugation in your area...

anyway, tillhere.

party
Monday, October 8, 2007
tomorrow, papasok nanaman ako sa school...
monday kasi bukas dito.
anyway, dito, very active ang nightlife...
discos, restaurants etc etc...

my first week at school was very VERY nice...
every wednesday, meron akong physical education sa hapon.
from 8am to 1:20pm lang ang classes ko and yung P.E. class ko ay 4pm pa...
pero malayo kasi yung house ko sa school kaya last wednesday, i just went to my classmate´s house (her name is cynthia)
then we ate lunch...
then after ng isang bus ride from my classmate´s house, sasakay naman lahat ng magkakasama sa iisang complejo.
ang complejo ay parang gymnasium pero mas malaki since madaming courts, may swimming pool, may cafeteria, madaming rooms for gymnastics and stuff...
ayun. this coming wednesday, may swimming na sa physical education namin.
pipili ka ng sports mo for the P.E....
handball, hockey, volleyball, football, gymnastics...
then, last wednesday, we were supposed to know the choreography of High School Musical... yung ´We´re all in this together´....
mas advance kasi na napalabas yung HSM sa pinas kasi kelangan pang i-dub into spanish dito before ipalabas...
nobody knows the choreo of HSM, though...
but my P.E. teacher was sooooo glad.
you know why?
because i know the choreography...
remember last year in statistics? (oo! alam nyo ito!)
so, there. i was the one who taught them...
P.E. class is from 4 to 7... 3 hours....
kakaiba dito.
oh well. wala namang badminton dito.

kissing is very common here.
i mean, back in the philippines, when a boy and a girl kiss they have a relationship. right?
here, that`s just normal.
wala lang effect. as in WALA.
a boy in my class said that i am very innocent (but in spanish)...
and a friend of my sister said that i am´nena´... meaning babygirl...
why? because i`ve never kissed anyone.

yesterday, i went to a party with my sister majo.
from 12 midnight up to 7 in the morning andun kami...
gosh. first time kong umuwi ng bahay ng umaga....
pero here, normal yun.
very friendly ang mga tao dito....
dun sa party, madami silang tanong. super.
and some of them kept on speaking in english but i can understand them better if they speak in spanish because their english is actually not good....
they brought red wine for me because i dont like to drink what they`re drinking...
fernel... thats the name.
it was just too strong for my liking...
the owner of the house (name is adrian) he draws anime very well....
he paints landscapes too!
he`s 20yrs old and studying electronic engineering...
very friendly. he`s brother matias is very friendly too... plays table tennis very well...
and they dont smoke. and dont drink much...

i asked those guys in the party why they smoke.
they dont know the answer....
i mean, isnt it bitter? and the odor is very foul!!
some of them agreed with me that the odor is foul...
but still, they do smoke...
why?
i wonder...

im just wondering... why is it that houses here are very big?

very small. it wont do any damage to anything...
pero ang cute kasi yung mga dahon lumilipad in a spiral...

hmm...
till here.
over and out. chau!

first day
Tuesday, October 2, 2007
okay. kanina was my first day at school.
the name of my school is INSTITUTE OF PELLEGRINNI (thats in english)
it is actually a private school...
actually, before, i thought that i cant go to this school coz it wasnt affiliated with AFS and it is a private school.
so, i dunno if AFS is paying for me or if pellegrinni decided to affiliate with them.
dunno.

my subjects are : biology, language(spanish), chemistry, physics, english, technology, edi(dunno this one), physical edu, philosophy, math...
in highschool here (known as secondaria) you can choose your course...
naturales, sociales, turismo, produccion...
afs chose naturales for me.
it is the hardest. consists of sciences and stuff..... but then, no history and geography!!!!!!!yay!!
cedric (from germany) is my classmate... well, there are 5 exchange students in this school but only 2 of us are with AFS...
and im the only one who`s not paying anything...

clothes are expensive here.
oh c`mon. the tie (corbata) that i have to use for school is worth 17 ARG pesos... cmon multiply that by 15 to get its equivalent in php...
a freaking towel is 20argpesos....
that`s worth much in philippine peso but here, thats cheap.
poor php....

my classmates were really really friendly...
they told me that im better than the other exchange students because when they first went to school, they cannot say anything. and they werent talking.
well... you know me, i cant just sit around in silence... **grin**

this place is rockin`!
you walk around the block and you`ll see some cuties...
you go downtown, you`ll see more...
you go to school, you`ll see lots...
oh well...

my classmates asked me if i have a boyfriend.
i said no.
they asked why.
i told them that i dont want to have one. its better to be single and free and unattached.
and they were, like, `what a shame`
hahaha.... cool.

i just love the food here in this country....
so yummy....

i have to copy the notes that my classmate lent me...
oh well... later.
on friday, we`re going to have an exam in chemistry...
poor me....
they are advanced in chem. theyre already in carboxilic acids, amines, esters and the such....
organic chemistry, in short.
the bondsticks and everything... shux....
goodluck for me on friday...
but then. they told me that in that school you dont have to study so much. you just pay the school and they will teach you. and you just have to have some passing grades...
oh so that means that i can actually slack down here! cool.
but im not used to slacking down....
the grades here are from 1 to 10...
10 being the highest.
the passing is 6 to 10...
well...
it is a private school, anyway.
from 7:25 to around 1 pm.... this is the class hours....

on saturday, my sister and her friends, together with me, are going to the boliche.
a boliche is a sort of a disco or bar or whatever you wanna call it.
that would be my first time to go in a bar o a disco or whatever....
people here love to dance.
A LOT.
and they told me that my stay here wont be complete if i wont visit their boliches...
okay then.

hey. till here. its getting late.
over and out.,
